Nitya Gau Grass Seva: The Daily Science of Feeding 100+ Rescued Cattle Fresh Hydroponic & Green Napier Grass

Feeding over 100 rescued and recovering cows requires far more than casual grass scattering. A healthy adult cow or bull consumes approximately 25 to 30 kilograms of green fodder alongside 5 to 7 kilograms of dry roughage and balanced mineral mash every single day.

At PPN Gaushala, our daily feeding regimen begins at 5:00 AM. Freshly harvested Super Napier grass and sweet Sorghum (Jowar) are unloaded directly from partnered local agricultural farms and shredded using heavy-duty electric chaff cutters to optimize rumen digestibility and prevent waste.

For pregnant cows, lactating mothers, and recovering surgical patients, we supplement green fodder with a customized Ayurvedic nutritional mash containing boiled crushed chana (Bengal gram), mustard cake, wheat bran, turmeric powder, and natural rock salt (Sendha Namak) rich in essential trace minerals.

During summer and drought months when green grass supplies diminish across Maharashtra, donor sponsorships for Gau Grass ensure our supply chain remains uninterrupted, preventing malnutrition and digestive colic in vulnerable cattle.

By participating in the 'Nitya Gau Grass Seva' program, donors can sponsor an entire morning or evening feed for the sanctuary herd in memory of loved ones, on birthdays, or on sacred tithis like Ekadashi and Amavasya. It is an immediate, palpable act of love that nourishes hundreds of pure souls.
