Inside the 24x7 Hydraulic Cattle Ambulance: How Lifesaving Rescue Operations Unfold on Highway Roads

Midnight on the Mumbai-Nashik highway is pitch black, punctuated only by blinding container truck headlamps and rain-slicked tarmac. When an 800 kg bull is struck down by high-speed traffic, standard animal rescue vans with manual ramps are powerless—attempting to drag a critically injured animal causes traumatic spinal shock.

This is where PPN Gaushala's custom-engineered hydraulic rescue ambulance makes the difference between life and death. Equipped with an industrial electro-hydraulic lifting tailgate capable of hoisting up to 1,200 kilograms smoothly from ground level, our vehicle can load a recumbent animal without jostling fractured limbs or causing panic.

Inside the ambulance, the interior is fitted with padded non-slip rubber flooring, overhead ceiling fans, saline infusion hangars, emergency oxygen cylinders, and high-intensity LED surgical floodlights. Treatment begins the instant the tailgate closes.

While our veteran driver coordinates with highway patrol police to escort the ambulance through congested urban corridors, the paramedic team administers intravenous tranexamic acid to stop arterial bleeding, splints broken limbs, and gives thermal shock blankets to stabilize body temperature.

Over the past year alone, this mobile intensive care unit has rescued more than 450 downed cattle across Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, and Mumbai suburban borders. Every gallon of diesel and every maintenance check is powered by donors whose empathy ensures our sirens continue sounding for the voiceless.
