Auspicious Tithis for Gau Seva: The Profound Power of Ekadashi, Purnima & Gopashtami

Throughout the Hindu calendar, certain moments are spiritually energized. While Gau Seva is meritorious every single day, scriptures reveal that seva performed during sacred tithis yields thousands-fold fruit.

Gopashtami marks the auspicious day when Lord Krishna was formally anointed as a full cowherd ('Gopala') by Mother Yashoda and Nanda Baba. Worshipping cows, offering them fresh sweet fodder, and performing pradarshana on Gopashtami dissolves accumulated sins and invites prosperity into the household.

Makar Sankranti & Pongal celebrate the harvest, where feeding cows first is considered the highest tribute to the earth that sustains human life.

Ekadashi & Amavasya: On Ekadashi (the day of Lord Vishnu), offering Gau Grass fulfills spiritual desires and grants mental serenity. On Amavasya (new moon), feeding cows with black sesame and jaggery brings peace and liberation (Moksha) to one's departed ancestors (Pitrus).

At Pashupatinath Mahadev Goshala Charitable Trust, we facilitate personalized Sankalp Seva on these auspicious days. Even if you cannot visit in person, our ashram priests perform the sacred Vedic puja and grass offering in your name and family gotra.
